The continuing story of the adventures of
a city kid into beekeeping and gardening -
Here are some pictures of the top
entrance and bottom entrance to
my garden hive, taken 25
February 2008.  When we went
in to check on their stores, we
found all three boxes chock full
of bees, brood, honey, and pollen.
When the sun is out there are
clouds of bees streaking back
and forth between the maple
trees, the water bowl, and the hive.
I've got my honey barn pretty
much cleaned up and ready for
this year's work.  I still have to
do my jar tally and shopping
list, but everything else looks
good to go.  We built a really
nice rack last fall to keep extra
frames on, a 5-rack open air
storage frame.  It lets light and
air in and around the frames
and seems to work very well -
I'll try to remember to take a
picture of it for the page next
time I'm out and about -
