Page 2..... Some of the new people in our beekeeper
association asked me to put my notes on when bee
plants bloom on the web, where they can see them
too.  These are merely my notes for the last few
years (I am a new comer to Table Rock) and are for
the immediate area around my home and just for
the things I have seen my bees working.
January - Camelia starts blooming late December and keeps on
going for awhile.  My bees work it when it is warm
enough, like this year (2007). Mine is just beginning to
 bloom (8 Jan 07)
February -   Daffodils start around 10 February
Breath of Spring starts around 25 February
March –        Dandelions start blooming around 20 March
Violets start blooming around 20 March, too
Peach tress starts around 19 March
Plum tree starts around 23 March
Pear tree starts around 29 March
April -           Blueberries start around 4 April
Redbud starts around 4 April, too
Cherry tree starts around 7 April
             Salvia starts around 17 April
May -            Holly starts around 12 May
Tulip polar starts around 17 May
             Privet starts around 27 May
June -             Sourwood starts around 25 June
August -       Crape Myrtle starts around 2 August
             Goldenrod starts around 20 August
Joe Pye weed starts around 20 August too
September - Asters start blooming this month, I noticed them
around the 15th, but they might have been blooming earlier.
I don't have alot of them so I missed their start
December - I noticed my neighbor's camelia was blooming around
the 28th.  Mine at home is not open yet.
In late July, I noticed my bees working some weeds in the garden.
My SC plant book calls it Mexican tea or Worm-seed.  I will look
at it closer this year and see what they are getting and when it
starts                                               the WebWitch
The next flowers around us are the asters, I do not
have a bloom date for them yet.  This list is not all
inclusive, as I notice my bees working plants, I add
them to the list and look for bloom dates.
2006 Update:  It was a FANTASTIC year for
sourwood!  I had to go get some additional 5-gallon
storage containers for it -                    the WebWitch

Everyone knows this little
jewel - our 'beloved'
dandelion.  My parents
laugh at me because I
plant them in my yard -
they try to get rid of them!
 That is the difference
between beekeepers and
non-beekeepers, one of
them is a bit strange....
