The Story of the
3-Brood Chamber
Swarm
We have a friend who
keeps bees down in
Sumter.  One day my
husband was visiting
him and they found
the biggest swarm
either one of them
had ever seen.  They
had to cut out most
of the pyrocantha to
work there...

...they put a stand
with two brood
chambers and frames
of comb underneath
the swarm and
knocked the bees
down over it...
The bees began their long
climb up into their new
home around 1:30 pm....
...2:15 pm...
...3:30 pm...
...4:00 pm they gave up
and put a third brood
chamber on...
...at 6:30 pm they had
almost all found their way
into the hive, finally.  The
guys estimated the swarm
weighed at least seven
pounds....
